As the story progresses, we are able to see her use various cards and the fights are lasting a bit longer which is a redeeming quality but as a whole, I would like it for this area to be more consistent. Other seasons showed some level of difficulty in capturing the cards, but at the start of this season there are only a few minutes from the entire episode for the capturing of the card which proves easy to do, so no surprise/entertaining factor there. While I was happy with the feelings of nostalgia seeing a similar plot, I felt that the plot was predictable and the pace was quite slow. That obviously did not happen so that left us with the second potential direction which is basically giving us the same thing we have had in the past. In truth I was hoping for a “Harry Potter” type of thing with CLAMP taking into account the age of the audience and making it suitable for the now adults watching it.

The first one would be to start Sakura in a new challenge with all of our favorite characters plus new ones as either a teen or young adult since it has been 20 years since the original release of the anime. I was expecting this anime/manga to go in one of two directions. I waited for this anime for so long, this was the very first one I watched from beginning to end during my childhood so it holds a special place in my heart. This review had been updated as the anime progressed however, with the season coming to an end I can finally finalize this review. A spoiler alert is in order.

Overall this series (from what I watched), just plain sucked and is best worth skipping unless you are a hardcore diehard Cardcaptor fan This is defineatly coming from someone who prefers the feel of the original but the sound and atmosphere created in this series is far to magical girl and far to cute that it really takes you out of the card of the week which adds to the above point of the cards not being a threat. If you didn't want to have him be what he was in season 3, look at what he was in Tsubasa and transplant that Syaoran over to the new series Yes I know, he's mellowed out since season 1 but come on that is no excuse for this performance. WTF!!! His voice is really bad too with no fire or emotion or masculinity that he had back then. The knight who always is suppose to be there for Sakura (BECAUSE HE LOVES HER) and he's barely in this series for the longerst time. Syaoran was absolutely worthless and his voice is shit. I know she's pretty battle hardened at this point but she hasn't, by her own statements, used her powers in awhile so it should have taken her a few episodes to get into the groove again These clear cards just don't have the feeling of menace or that they are putting Sakura in danger. In the original, the clow cards (and Eli's monsters) had the feeling that they could kill Sakura if she slips up. I couldn't finish the series it was so boring.Įvery episode just feels so rushed which is odd because every episode is longer at around 25 min then the original which was around 19 min. Finally, hovering over a group of colored circles will reveal the characters that are present on the chapter's cover art.I grew up with the original Cardcaptors back in the late 90s, and have rewatched it every 5 years or so since then, so I was happy to hear that they were going to do a new series for the twentith anniversary but man was I disappointed. Hovering over a chapter pil instead shows the reverse which characters appear in that chapter. Hovering over a character name shows all the chapters she or he appears in. These two main circular areas are connected by lines that change depending on which area you hover over (or click on mobile). The inner ring (on the inside of the lines) concentrates on the main characters and their connections.

Such as which Clow cards were captured in each chapter or the smaller groups of circles showing the main colors present in each chapter's cover art, all practically a piece of art. The outer rings (outside the lines) focus on all 50 chapters. The visualization above is an ode to this wonderful series.
